St. Stephen residents, merchants, and visitors depend on safe and accessible streets and sidewalks. The municipal public works crew has nine dedicated staff who operate the plows, trucks, tractors, and loaders that help keep our streets clear.
Snow is plowed (In accordance with the Municipal District of St. Stephen Policy 16-A) whenever there’s a danger of traffic hazards or flooding. Snow removal operations are carried out during normal workday hours, except for a snow emergency, in which case plowing is done in the early morning. Overtime plowing and sanding is carried out according to our Snow and Ice Removal Program.
To help snow removal operations, St. Stephen restricts overnight street parking during winter months. From November 15th to March 31st, no vehicle may be left unattended on any street within town from midnight to 7:00 a.m. (as per By-law T-1 A).
